ABOUT OUR PRESCHOOL

Changing the world

Ever since 1948, La Playa Cooperative Nursery School has been providing students with a rich and diverse learning environment. Generations of families have attended our preschool and La Playa alumni become independent, confident children with a strong educational foundation, healthy social-emotional skills, and an understanding of helping others around them. Our unparalleled teaching methods help to launch students into the successful future they have always dreamed of. We encourage both staff, students, and parents to grow, learn and create each passing day.

OUR MISSION

Enriching the Lives of Our Students

We desire to create an educational atmosphere that students will love being around. Our programs are intended to empower students to tackle challenges and take on experiences that may be new to them. At La Playa Cooperative Nursery School, we are constantly striving to make learning fun and dynamic so that all of our students can accomplish their goals.

We respect the individual needs of each students and believe that with the right guidance and direction, they can succeed. Our educational approach empowers our students to question conventional thinking and to pursue their academic understanding with dedication and originality.

OUR FACILITY

Culver City’s oldest cooperative preschool teams up with the city for lots of room to play!

La Playa is housed in Culver City’s own Stone House in Lindberg Park. La Playa has been lucky to partner with the City of Culver City for nearly 80 years! With nearly 10,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space, children are able to play and explore in all sorts of space throughout the day. From climbing structures, to the sand box, to the garden, to the bicycle and tricycle space, the lunch tables, the art space, the art pods, the building block areas, the reading nooks, and the dramatic play stations, La Playa children have all sorts of places and ways to thrive.

OUR PARENTS

As a cooperative school and non-profit, parents are at the heart of La Playa. Every week, parents get to volunteer alongside the children and teachers, getting a unique chance to attend their child’s first schooling experience while learning helpful parenting skills from teachers who have worked with this age group for many years. La Parents get a keen-eye view in what makes preschoolers so delightful. While on-site, parents get access to exclusive research and tips regarding the growth and needs of their preschool-aged children. In addition, every month, parents get to attend a monthly seminar with childhood experts.
In addition, parents at La Playa gain something that they wouldn’t get at other preschools: an opportunity to work alongside other parents who are sharing similar experiences. It’s a chance for parents to make friends too!
